BHP WAIO | Rehabilitation Monitoring 2016-2019

BHP Western Australia Iron Ore Pty Ltd (BHP WAIO) have been conducting rehabilitation activities across their Pilbara tenements for the last three decades. Monitoring of rehabilitated sites is carried out to assess developmental trajectories and identify areas where remedial treatments may be required.

Spectrum Ecology has completed rehabilitation monitoring for BHP since 2016 including implementing new monitoring methods in 2017 to align the procedure with the Environmental Protection Authority’s (EPA’s) guidelines for flora and vegetation assessments in the Pilbara. Spectrum Ecology has since worked with BHP WAIO to convert the majority of the rehabilitation monitoring sites to the new scale of monitoring across 2017, 2018 and 2019.
